Description An account of the resource El conocimiento de las variaciones del nivel del mar en las cercanías de las costas es fundamental para el diseño de construcciones y sus operaciones, asegurar la navegación, realizar levantamientos batimétricos e implementar políticas de manejo costero. Las costas patagónicas si bien tienen una gran importancia geopolítica, son el sector de la costa atlántica argentina donde menos se han estudiado las principales componentes del nivel del mar. Una de las razones es que se carece de observaciones de registradores de marea continuas y distribuidas de manera homogénea. El Servicio de Hidrografía Naval (SHN) tenía seis estaciones mareográficas, de las cuales se encuentran operando actualmente tres: Puerto Madryn, Puerto Deseado y Ushuaia. Aunque los datos satelitales y los productos derivados de ellos, como los modelos de marea son una gran herramienta para conocer la altura del mar en lejanías de la costa (más de 25-30 km), no ocurre lo mismo en la franja costera. Sin embargo, en octubre de 2020 se dio a conocer una nueva versión del modelo FES2014 denotada como FES2014c que extiende los resultados hacia las costas. La versión anterior del modelo fue extrapolada en las costas con el fin de cubrir casi en su totalidad las regiones costeras. A raíz del procedimiento aplicado (una extrapolación simple aplicada a 10 píxeles y utilizando valores medios) puede ocurrir que no sea suficientemente preciso en algunas regiones. Es por ello que en este trabajo nos proponemos evaluar la calidad de los resultados del modelo FES2014c en 27 localizaciones de la costa patagónica, donde se cuenta con observaciones in situ de las alturas del mar en distintos períodos de tiempo. Dichas localizaciones están distribuidas entre los 40º y los 54º de latitud sur, abarcando diferentes geografías, rangos y regímenes de marea. Para cada estación se realizan dos predicciones de marea coincidentes con las fechas de las observaciones: una con las constantes armónicas de las Tablas de Marea del SHN, o en su defecto con las constantes provenientes de un análisis armónico, y la otra con las constantes provistas por el FES2014c. Se comparan ambas predicciones con las observaciones mediante el coeficiente de determinación (R2) y el error cuadrático medio (RMSE) de la regresión efectuada entre ellas, y también mediante el desvío estándar de la diferencia entre los datos observados y las predicciones (residuos). Finalmente, la integración de datos geofísicos y de pozo permitió la construcción de un modelo estático en Pozuelos, que encuentra en 900 metros de profundidad la zona más profunda del basamento y discrimina ocho litofacies.
