El desafío que aborda esta tesis es analizar la situación actual de la calidad del aire en el Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires (AMBA) para los contaminantes atmosféricos clásicos (CO, NOx, SO2, O3, PM10) y el carbono negro (BC) empleando tres enfoques complementarios: (i) identificar relaciones fuente receptor utilizando modelos de trayectoria lagrangiana; (ii) evaluar la distribución espacial (en superficie y en altura) y temporal mediante un modelo regional de transporte químico y (iii) predecir concentraciones de contaminantes empleando una técnica de aprendizaje automático. Esta Tesis Doctoral está organizada en una introducción y tres capítulos. En cada uno de ellos, se estudiaron distintos aspectos de la calidad del aire en la región, empleando uno de los enfoques modelísticos citados. Cada capítulo presenta el problema estudiado, el modelo implementado, los datos utilizados, los resultados obtenidos y su alcance. En el primer capítulo se estudió la presencia de BC procedente de la quema de combustibles fósiles y biomasa de origen local y regional. El BC reviste especial interés como marcador de la combustión incompleta. Se determinaron las concentraciones m´asicas de BC en el material particulado de diámetro aerodinámico menor a 2,5 μm (PM2,5) en el sitio suburbano CITEDEF (noviembre, 2014 a marzo, 2016) utilizando un etalómetro. Este instrumento brinda una medición óptica en tiempo real de aerosoles carbonosos según siete longitudes de onda y permite determinar la concentración másica total y las contribuciones de la combustión fósil y de biomasa. Las series temporales de las tres concentraciones de BC determinadas y las variaciones de las condiciones meteorológicas, se utilizaron para identificar las principales fuentes de emisión e inferir la variabilidad temporal y espacial de las respectivas contribuciones. Se identificó la contribución de las plumas procedentes de eventos de quema de biomasa mediante un análisis fuente-receptor para situaciones de altos niveles de la respectiva componente del BC. Los resultados obtenidos proporcionaron información novedosa sobre: (i) los ciclos estacionales y diurnos del BC total y de sus componentes fósiles y de biomasa; (ii) la contribución media de las principales fuentes de emisión a los niveles de BC en PM2,5; y (iii) el impacto sobre los niveles de BC debido a la quema regional de biomasa. Entre los principales hallazgos se mencionan: (i) las concentraciones de BC mostraron un marcado ciclo diurno bimodal, modulado principalmente por las emisiones de los vehículos automotores y la altura de la capa de mezcla, y un ciclo estacional con concentraciones medias mensuales que oscilaron entre 1,5 μg/m3 (febrero) y 3,4 μg/m3 (junio); (ii) la contribución media de las fuentes fósiles fue del 96 %, correspondiendo el 4% restante a la quema de biomasa local y regional; y (iii) la componente de quema de biomasa representó más del 50% del total del BC durante los dos eventos extremos atribuidos a la quema regional. Estos aportes también fueron identificados a través de los perfiles verticales y los mapas de concentraciones obtenidos en el capítulo 2. Una parte sustancial del segundo capítulo fue desarrollar un prototipo para el diagnóstico de la calidad del aire que utiliza el modelo regional Weather Research and Forecasting model acoplado con química (WRF-Chem) (Grell et al., 2005). El prototipo incluye el modelo de transporte químico, procesadores de datos de terreno y condiciones de borde, procesadores de emisiones y un módulo de diseño propio para extraer los datos de superficie de los archivos de salida. Para generar la información sobre emisiones antropogénicas, se desarrolló una herramienta para ingresar inventarios anuales de emisión, disponibles en tres bases de datos globales, una regional y dos locales, combinarlas y modular las emisiones anuales con distintos ciclos semanales y diurnos. La bondad de ajuste del modelo se evaluó utilizando datos meteorológicos de superficie y de calidad del aire de dos estaciones de la red de monitoreo de la ciudad de Buenos Aires (CABA) y la información generada en el capítulo 1 para BC. El desempeño del modelo fue evaluado exhaustivamente para los períodos febrero-marzo y agosto-septiembre de 2015. Se identificó que el ciclo diurno de emisiones influía en mayor medida por la mañana y por la noche, mientras que por la tarde, el coeficiente de ventilación regia primordialmente los niveles de los contaminantes. En general, el modelo reprodujo satisfactoriamente las concentraciones diarias observadas y la variabilidad del ciclo diurno para las especies CO, NOx y EBC durante el período de invierno. Las diferencias en el periodo de verano fueron mayores entre modelado y observado. Los resultados mostraron (i) el alcance regional de las emisiones del AMBA y la influencia de fuentes regionales sobre la atmósfera de la zona y (ii) que la variabilidad temporal y espacial de las concentraciones de los contaminantes primarios estuvo dominada por la variabilidad de sus emisiones antropogénicas. Para el área de la CABA, se identificó que cuando aumentaron las concentraciones de NOx, en general disminuyeron las de O3, indicativo de una atmosfera con un régimen limitado por compuestos orgánicos volátiles (VOCs). Este comportamiento no resultó tan claro en la periferia, hecho que llevaría a postular que en el AMBA existen zonas limitadas por VOCs y zonas limitadas por NOx. El análisis de los perfiles verticales de CO y EBC para situaciones en las que se registraron altas concentraciones a nivel de superficie permitió corroborar la llegada de las plumas provenientes de la quema de biomasa identificadas en el Capítulo 1. La implementación del modelo regional WRF-Chem junto con la integración del inventario regional PAPILA y la evaluación correspondiente de las distintas especies para brindar transparencia a los resultados, tiene potencial para evolucionar hacia un modelo de pronóstico regional de la calidad del aire. Como herramienta alternativa de diagnóstico, en el Capítulo 3 se exploró el uso de la técnica de aprendizaje automático supervisado conocida como bosque aleatorio. Este método está cobrando un interés creciente para la predicción de las concentraciones medias de contaminantes atmosféricos en un lugar específico. Se construyeron modelos de predicción y se evaluó su desempeño para dos sitios del AMBA: Parque Centenario (CO, NO, NO2 y PM10) y CNEA (CO, NO, NO2, O3 y SO2). Se consideraron variables explicativas de distintos tipos: meteorológicas, temporales, ciclos de emisión y concentraciones de contaminantes atmosféricos. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que el modelo (i) captó las variaciones horarias observadas y los ciclos diurnos para todos los contaminantes y (ii) permitió identificar posibles relaciones no lineales entre las emisiones, la química y la meteorología analizando la importancia de las variables y las dependencias parciales. Las variables más importantes identificadas para cada contaminante fueron: (i) altura de la capa limite y velocidad del viento para CO; (ii) los otros contaminantes y la temperatura superficial para NO y NO2, y (iii) concentraciones de otros contaminantes para O3, PM10 y SO2. La capacidad del modelo, que fue desarrollado con datos de 2019, para ser aplicado a otros periodos se evaluó comparando su respuesta con los resultados del modelo WRF-Chem para el periodo agosto-septiembre de 2015 obtenidos en el Capítulo 2. Se observó que (i) el modelo de bosque aleatorio captó mejor los ciclos diurnos; (ii) la variabilidad diaria y los valores medios fueron mejor representados por el modelo WRF-Chem, y (iii) ambos mostraron dificultades para representar al PM10 en términos de concentraciones horarias, aun cuando los valores medios fueron reproducidos adecuadamente por ambos enfoques. Los modelos desarrollados en este capítulo se aplicaron asimismo para estimar los cambios en las concentraciones de contaminantes ocurridos como consecuencia de las restricciones impuestas durante las distintas etapas de aislamiento social establecidos en el transcurso de los meses iniciales de la pandemia COVID-19. Para el periodo de restricciones más estrictas, los cambios porcentuales en las concentraciones respecto de un escenario sin pandemia resultaron en el rango de -12% (SO2) y -75% (NO). El O3 fue la única especie que tuvo un cambio porcentual positivo (≤ 80 %). Consistente, con el hallazgo del Capítulo 2, indicativo de que la atmosfera en la zona del sitio CNEA tendría un régimen químico limitado por VOCs. Al igual que el prototipo de diagnóstico de la calidad del aire desarrollado en el Capítulo 2, el modelo de pronóstico basado en la técnica de bosque aleatorio ha demostrado ser una valiosa contribución a un sistema de previsión de la calidad del aire de una ciudad, ya que ha demostrado ser fácilmente aplicable a otros periodos de interés. Los resultados de esta Tesis Doctoral han permitido mejorar la comprensión de la dinámica de los aerosoles y gases en el AMBA y de las complejas interacciones entre la meteorología y la calidad del aire. A su vez, la novedosa información recopilada en el marco de esta Tesis Doctoral y la aplicación de las distintas herramientas utilizadas en este trabajo contribuyeron a mejorar el estado de la ciencia en la región respecto a estos relevantes temas. Esta tesis estudia el flujo oscilante de suspensiones de partículas no brownianas en canales estrechos. El flujo de suspensiones está presente en una gran variedad de situaciones naturales e industriales, y los flujos oscilantes son interesantes, en particular, por la influencia de las inversiones del flujo. Los experimentos previos realizados en nuestros laboratorios mostraron que los flujos oscilantes de suspensiones dentro de celdas de Hele-Shaw pueden ser inestables, resultando en una modulación de la concentración de partículas a lo largo de la celda. Este comportamiento resultó novedoso y motivó el presente estudio. Nuestro objetivo en este trabajo es entender esta inestabilidad a partir de las variaciones espaciales y temporales de variables macroscópicas (campos de velocidad y de concentración de partículas) y microscópicas (distribución de pares de partículas), tanto a la escala temporal de una sola oscilación, como durante el desarrollo de la inestabilidad, determinando así los parámetros que la controlan. Utilizamos técnicas experimentales que nos permitieron observar y rastrear partículas individuales dentro de la suspensión, calculando las variables antes mencionadas mediante procedimientos estadísticos. Las suspensiones se componen de partículas esféricas de PMMA (acrílico) suspendidas en líquidos newtonianos. Las partículas ocupan una fracción ???? de entre 0,2 y 0,4 del volumen total. Se utilizaron partículas con diámetros de 40 y 85 µm, lo suficientemente grandes para considerarlas no brownianas. Los líquidos son soluciones acuosas con la misma densidad e índice de refracción que las partículas, evitando así efectos de sedimentación y obteniendo suspensiones transparentes. Se estudia el flujo dentro de canales rectangulares cerrados con largo de 150 mm, espesor 2?? de 1 o 2 mm y ancho de 10 mm (respectivamente, direcciones ??, ??, ??). Una bomba de jeringas induce flujos periódicos con forma de onda cuadrada en el caudal (periodos entre 2 y 20 s), resultando en amplitudes de desplazamiento ?? entre 2 ?? y 20 ?? y números de Reynolds menores a 1. Mediante el uso de fluorescencia y un plano láser más fino que las partículas, observamos a las mismas en un corte ubicado en el medio del ancho, paralelo al largo y el espesor. Al comienzo de cada experimento, la fracción de volumen local ?? (concentración de partículas) y la velocidad longitudinal ???? son uniformes en la dirección ??, mientras la velocidad transversal ???? es ˜ 0. Luego de algunas de oscilaciones, y todavía con ???? ˜ 0, observamos que la fracción local ?? se ha vuelto marcadamente más grande en el centro del espesor (?? = 0) como consecuencia de la migración de partículas hacia allí inducida por el flujo de corte. Esto resulta en una mayor viscosidad en el centro y perfiles de velocidad más planos. Luego, el incremento de ?? en el centro se detiene y aparece un flujo secundario con velocidades transversales ???? no nulas y periódicas en ?? con una longitud de onda ˜ 7 ??: el mismo corresponde a una secuencia de celdas de recirculación que son arrastradas por el flujo principal y cambian de dirección con el mismo. Simultáneamente, la región de alta concentración de partículas cerca de ?? = 0 adquiere una forma ondulante con la misma longitud de onda. Este patrón también es arrastrado por el flujo principal. Las amplitudes del flujo secundario y del patrón ondulante en ?? aumentan en forma aproxima- damente exponencial hasta saturar. La correspondiente tasa de crecimiento aumenta con la fracción volumétrica promedio ???? y disminuye hasta cero al reducir la amplitud de oscilación a ?? ˜ ??. Estas observaciones nos sugieren que la inestabilidad está inducida por interac- ciones irreversibles entre las partículas, probablemente contactos sólidos, y que la inversión periódica de la dirección de flujo juega un papel importante. Observaciones a la escala de las partículas muestran una microestructura anisotrópica que debe reorganizarse cada vez se invierte la dirección de flujo. This thesis studies oscillatory flows of neutrally-buoyant non-Brownian spherical particles suspensions in narrow channels. Flows of suspensions are widespread in nature, and industrial and biological systems, and the case of oscillatory flows is particularly interesting in view of the possible influence of flow reversals. Previous experiments in our laboratory have shown that the oscillatory flow of suspensions inside Hele-Show cells can be unstable, resulting in a modulation of the particle concentration along the length of the channel. Such a behavior was novel and motivated the present study. Our objective in this work has been to understand this instability from the time variations of the velocity and concentration fields and from those of the microstructure of the suspension both at the time scale of an oscillation period and at that of the development of the instability to de- termine the parameters controlling this onset. For this purpose, we used an optical technique allowing us to track individual particles inside the suspension and calculate both microscopic statistics (pair distributions) characterizing spatial correlations of the particle distribution and macroscopic quantities (local concentration and velocity) and their spatial variations and time dependence. We used PMMA (acrylic) spheres suspended in a Newtonian liquid with bulk particle volume fractions ???? between 0.2 and 0.4. The particles were spherical with diameters of 40 and 85 µm and, therefore, non-Brownian. The suspending fluid was an aqueous solution of same density and refractive index as the particles, in order to cancel sedimentation and render the sus- pension transparent. Flow took place in rectangular channels saturated with the suspension (length = 150 mm, thickness 2?? = 1 or 2 mm, width = 10 mm corresponding respectively to the ??, ?? and ?? directions). A programmable syringe pump induces periodic square wave flow rate variations (periods ?? = 2 - 20 s) resulting in displacement amplitudes ?? = 2 ?? - 20 ?? and Reynolds numbers below 1. Using a fluorescent fluid and illuminating the channel by a thin laser plane (20 µm) parallel to its length and thickness and located in the middle of the thick- ness allows us to observe the particles as dark circles and determine their individual location and velocity and their local concentration. At the beginning of each experiment, the average local volume fraction ?? and the velocity component ???? are constant with ?? and the transverse component ???? is ˜ 0. Then, after a few oscillations, and still with ???? ˜ 0, the local fraction ?? becomes larger in the center (?? = 0) than near the walls (?? = ±??) due to shear-induced particle migration, resulting in a higher viscosity in this region and a blunted velocity profile. The rate of migration appears to be strongly related to the development of the instability. Then, the increase of ?? levels off and a periodic transverse secondary flow component ???? of wavelength ˜ 7 ?? along ?? appears: it corresponds to a sequence of recirculation cells of alternating directions changing at mean flow reversals and convected by it. Simultaneously, the band of high particle concentration near ?? = 0 develops transverse distortions of same wavelength which, too, are convected by the oscillations of the mean flow. The amplitude of both the secondary flow velocity and the distortions of the high ?? band in- crease roughly exponentially until a saturation is reached. The corresponding growth rate increases with the bulk volume fraction ???? and becomes zero below a threshold value ??/?? ˜ 1 of the strain amplitude. Both observations suggest that the instability is driven by irreversible particle interactions, most probably by solid contacts, and that the flow reversal plays an im- portant part in its development. The microstructure of the particle pair distribution before the onset of the instability is shown to be asymmetric with a transient excess of separating pairs after each flow reversal. El objetivo de la tesis fue evaluar la efectividad de la fotocatálisis heterogénea con TiO2 para el tratamiento del contaminante Cr(VI) en fase acuosa, a través de su transformación en la especie no tóxica Cr(III). Se analizó la efectividad de la fotocatálisis heterogénea con TiO2 bajo luz UV para la reducción de Cr(VI) con el agregado de ácido cítrico (Cit) como agente donor de electrones. Se evaluó el efecto en la velocidad de diferentes relaciones molares iniciales Cit/Cr(VI) (RM) (Cr(VI) = 0,8 mM, 0 / RM / 500), encontrándose que la adición de Cit facilita la reducción fotocatalítica, y que la velocidad de transformación de Cr(VI) es función de RM, con un valor óptimo de RM de 1,25, aunque se obtuvieron velocidades de reducción mayores a RM = 500. Se estudió también el efecto del pH en la reducción de Cr(VI) para RM = 2,5, observándose que, a medida que aumenta el pH, la reducción es más lenta, y que se produce un cambio en la cinética de reducción de Cr(VI) de un comportamiento de primer orden (pH 2) a uno de tipo biexponencial (3 / pH /6). Se observó que, una vez reducido totalmente el Cr(VI), la degradación de Cit y la reducción de NPOC se detienen, lo que podría deberse a una inactivación del catalizador por la deposición de Cr(III) en su superficie. Se estudió el sistema TiO2/Cr(VI)/Cit por resonancia electrónica paramagnética (RPE), lo que permitió dilucidar las etapas iniciales de la reducción de Cr(VI). Se confirmó que la reducción se inicia por un proceso monoelectrónico que forma Cr(V), el cual se combina con Cit formando el complejo Cr(V)-Cit2. Las determinaciones cuantitativas indican que aproximadamente 10% del Cr(VI) reducido se transforma en Cr(V)-Cit2 y que, al incrementarse la relación molar Cit/Cr(VI), la velocidad de formación de Cr(V)-Cit2 aumenta hasta llegar a un máximo a RM = 2,5, mientras que la velocidad de desaparición del complejo disminuye a medida que aumenta RM, debido a una mayor estabilidad del mismo a mayores concentraciones de Cit. La fracción de Cr(VI) transformada en Cr(V)-Cit2 es independiente de la concentración inicial de Cr(VI), mientras que disminuye a medida que aumenta el pH. La evolución temporal de Cr(V)-Cit2 se ajustó a un modelo de cinética de formación y desaparición sucesivas de primer orden. También se estudió la efectividad de la fotocatálisis heterogénea con TiO2 modificado con ftalocianina tricarboximonoamida de hidroxoaluminio (AlTCPc), un colorante orgánico, para la reducción de Cr(VI) bajo irradiación visible (> > 500 nm), XIV usando 4-clorofenol (4-CP) como agente donor de electrones. Se evaluó la importancia del TiO2 modificado como soporte activo del colorante por comparación de la actividad fotocatalítica con una muestra equivalente donde se adsorbió el colorante sobre alúmina (Al2O3), un soporte inerte. Se observó que, bajo irradiación visible, la reducción fotocatalítica de Cr(VI) sólo tenía lugar cuando se usó la muestra de TiO2 modificado con el colorante (TiO2-AlTCPc), con independencia de la concentración de AlTCPc sobre la superficie del semiconductor, dentro del rango de valores estudiados. También se estudió el efecto de la concentración de TiO2 modificado sobre la velocidad de reducción de Cr(VI), observándose un aumento de la misma con el aumento de la concentración del fotocatalizador. Se realizaron experimentos con concentraciones iniciales variables de 4-CP (0 / [4-CP] / 4 mM), determinándose que la presencia del compuesto orgánico era indispensable para la reducción de Cr(VI), pero que la velocidad inicial era independiente de la concentración de 4-CP utilizada. La reducción de Cr(VI) se ajustó en todos los casos a una cinética de primer orden, observándose que, una vez completada la reducción de Cr(VI), la degradación de 4-CP se detenía. Se detectó la formación de benzoquinona (BQ) como intermediario de la degradación de 4- CP. Se comparó la efectividad de 4-CP como donor, realizando experimentos comparativos con otros compuestos fenólicos; se comprobó que el fenol tiene una efectividad similar a la del 4-CP, que la BQ no es efectiva ya que no puede ser oxidada por el catión radical de la AlTCPc, mientras que la hidroquinona y el catecol reducen directamente al Cr(VI) antes de la irradiación. También se estudió para este sistema la evolución temporal de la especie intermediaria Cr(V), a través de su estabilización con ácido cítrico, observándose que el comportamiento cinético es el mismo observado para el sistema TiO2/Cr(VI)/Cit bajo irradiación UV, aunque la fracción del Cr(VI) reducido que es transformado en Cr(V) es significativamente mayor (50%, vs. 10% del sistema bajo luz UV). Finalmente, se evaluó el efecto de la longitud de onda de la irradiación utilizada sobre la eficiencia de utilización de fotones por el sistema para la reducción de Cr(VI), observándose una eficiencia mayor bajo irradiación UV o UV+visible que bajo luz UV. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the effectiveness of heterogeneous photocatalysis with TiO2 for the treatment of the pollutant Cr(VI) in aqueous phase, through its transformation into the less toxic species Cr(III). The effectiveness of heterogeneous photocatalysis with TiO2 under UV light for the reduction of Cr(VI) with the addition of citric acid (Cit) as electron donor agent was studied. The effect of the initial Cit/Cr(VI) molar ratio (RM) on the Cr(VI) reduction rate was studied (Cr(VI) = 0,8 mM, 0 ) RM ) 500); it was found that the addition of Cit facilitates the photocatalytic reduction, and that the rate of Cr(VI) conversion is a function of RM, with an optimal value at 1,25, although higher reduction rates at RM = 500 were found. The effect of pH on the Cr(VI) reduction was studied at RM = 2,5; it was observed that the reduction rate decreases as pH increases, with a change on the kinetics of Cr(VI) reduction from a first-order behavior (pH 2) to a biexponential rate (3 ) pH ) 6). It was noted that once Cr(VI) is completely reduced, Cit and NPOC degradation are arrested, which could be due to the inactivation of the catalyst by deposition of Cr(III) species on its surface. Electronic paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements carried out on the TiO2/Cr(VI)/Cit system allowed to explain the initial stages of the photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction. It was confirmed that the reduction is initiated by an one-electron process forming Cr(V), which combines with Cit forming the Cr(V)-Cit2 complex. The quantitative measurements indicate that approximately 10% of reduced Cr(VI) is transformed into Cr(V)-Cit2, and that an increase in the Cit/Cr(VI) molar ratio increases the rate of Cr(V)-Cit2 formation up to a maximum at RM = 2,5, while the rate of disappearance of the complex decreases with increasing RM, due to its higher stability at higher Cit concentrations. The fraction of Cr(VI) transformed into Cr(V)-Cit2 is independent of the initial Cr(VI) concentration, but it decreases with increasing pH. The temporal Cr(V)-Cit2 evolution was adjusted to a first order kinetic model of formation and subsequent disappearance. We also studied the effectiveness of the heterogeneous photocatalysis with TiO2 modified with hydroxoaluminiumtricarboxymonoamide phthalocyanine (AlTCPc), an organic dye, for Cr(VI) reduction under visible irradiation (; > 500 nm), using 4- chlorophenol (4-CP) as electron donor agent. We evaluated the importance of TiO2 modified as active support of the dye by comparing the photocatalytic activity with an XVI equivalent sample where the dye was adsorbed on alumina (Al2O3), an inert support. It was observed that, under visible irradiation, the photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction only took place when the dye-modified TiO2 (TiO2-AlTCPc) sample was used, regardless the AlTCPc concentration on the semiconductor surface, at least in the studied range of values. We also studied the effect of the modified TiO2 concentration on the Cr(VI) reduction rate, noting an increase with the increasing photocatalyst concentration. Experiments were conducted with varying initial 4-CP concentrations (0 ) [4-CP] ) 4 mM), concluding that the presence of 4-CP was essential for the Cr(VI) reduction reaction, but the initial rate was independent of the used 4-CP concentration. The kinetics of Cr(VI) reduction was adjusted in all cases to a first order kinetics, noting that 4-CP degradation stopped after Cr(VI) reduction was complete. Benzoquinone (BQ) was the only detected intermediate compound for the degradation of 4-CP. We compared the effectiveness of 4-CP as a donor, carrying out comparative experiments with other phenolic compounds; it was found that phenol has a similar effectiveness to that of 4-CP, while BQ is not effective because it cannot be oxidized by the AlTCPc radical cation, while hydroquinone and catechol reduced directly Cr(VI) before irradiation. The temporal evolution of the intermediate Cr(V) species in the TiO2- AlTCPc/Cr(VI)/4-CP system under visible irradiation through its stabilization with Cit was also studied; the results showed the same kinetic behavior observed for the TiO2/Cr(VI)/Cit system under UV irradiation, although the reduced Cr(VI) fraction that is transformed into Cr(V) is significantly higher (50% vs. 10% for the system under UV light). Finally, we evaluated the effect of the irradiation wavelength on the efficiency of utilization of photons by the system for Cr(VI) reduction, founding a higher efficiency under UV irradiation or UV + visible than under UV light. Los sistemas inteligentes autónomos (SIA) aprenden de su entorno formando teorías sobre cómo el ambiente reacciona a sus acciones. Estas teorías se pueden compartir con otros agentes. Cada SIA utiliza las teorías que ha adquirido para planificar. Esto significa construir planes (secuencias de acciones) que le permitan alcanzar sus objetivos autopropuestos. Para mejorar el desempeño de los SIA alcanzando sus objetivos, es necesario contar con un método que permita estimar la confiabilidad de los planes generados antes de su ejecución. Este proceso se llama ponderación de planes, y ha sido aplicado con éxito en trabajos anteriores. En esta tesis se propone un nuevo algoritmo de ponderación de planes con el objetivo de mejorar el rendimiento (porcentaje de planes exitosos), aumentar la generalidad del conocimiento adquirido y acelerar el proceso de aprendizaje. Autonomous intelligent systems (AIS) learn from their environment by forming theories about how the environment reacts to system’s actions. These theories can be shared with other agents. Each AIS uses the theories it has acquired to planning. This means building plans (actions sequences) that allow it to reach its auto-proposed objectives. In order to improve the performance of the AIS reaching their objectives, it is necessary to have a method that allows estimating the reliability of the generated plans before their execution. Such a process is called weighing of plans, and has been successfully applied in previous works. In this thesis, a new algorithm for weighing of plans is proposed with the goals of improving the performance (percentage of successful plans), increasing the generality of the acquired knowledge, and accelerating the learning.
