La tecnología LiDAR, basada en la emisión y detección de pulsos de luz láser, ha evolucionado durante las últimas décadas hasta consolidarse como una herramienta fundamental para el modelado tridimensional de alta precisión en múltiples campos de la ingeniería. Durante el año 2023, la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Tecnologías de la UNSE incorporó un sistema LiDAR TLS de última generación, mediante el Programa Equipar Ciencia del ex Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación de la Nación. En el marco del desarrollo de un prototipo de sistema de gestión y control automático de caudales del Río Dulce en Santiago del Estero, se propuso la utilización de escáner Laser para conseguir un modelado 3D preciso de ciertas estructuras críticas. En este trabajo se describen la metodología aplicada para obtener modelos 3D de un sector de canales secundarios y terciarios del Sistema de Riego del Río Dulce. El área de estudio abarcó 500 metros de canales ubicados sobre el Canal Secundario La Cuarteada, en la progresiva 7.230 m, incluyendo los canales terciarios CT2 y CT3, y las obras de derivación y control de caudales. El relevamiento se realizó mediante 55 estaciones de escaneo sucesivas, garantizando una adecuada superposición entre observaciones consecutivas. El procesamiento de los datos se efectuó con el software RiSCAN PRO, incluyendo la registración de escaneos, filtrado de vegetación y depuración de puntos. La nube de puntos resultante presentó una coherencia interna de 1 cm (RMS). La georreferenciación se efectuó en el marco POSGAR07 utilizando la estación permanente TERO. Asimismo, se realizaron observaciones GNSS sobre puntos altimétricos para evaluar y ajustar el modelo de geoide AR16 al marco vertical SRVN16. La comparación entre AR16 y los modelos geopotenciales globales EGM2008, XGM2019 y SGG-UGM-2 evidenció diferencias relativas con una desviación estándar del orden de ±0,05 m. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron generar un modelo tridimensional de alta precisión, apto para aplicaciones de análisis y modelación hidráulica en el marco de referencia vertical SRVN16.

La Interferometría Diferencial de Radar de Apertura Sintética (DInSAR) es una herramienta para el monitoreo de deformaciones superficiales, de bajo costo y gran cobertura espacial. Uno de los algoritmos más utilizados para medir series temporales de deformación es Dispersores Persistentes (DP), o Persistent Scatterers (PS) por su acepción en inglés. La técnica implica la comparación de la fase interferométrica de imágenes SAR obtenidas en diferentes momentos y tiene el potencial de proporcionar una precisión milimétrica. PS consiste en la generación de Interferogramas diferenciales en alta resolución para cada una de las adquisiciones. Los pares interferométricos se conforman con respecto a una única imagen maestro común, independientemente de la línea de base espacial. Aunque la decorrelación temporal y las diferencias atmosféricas afectan fuertemente la calidad del interferograma, se pueden obtener mediciones fiables de deformación en un marco de múltiples imágenes sobre un pequeño subconjunto de píxeles de la imagen, correspondientes a áreas estables. Los puntos PS, en adelante llamados Dispersores Persistentes, pueden ser utilizados como una "red GPS natural" para monitorear el movimiento del terreno, analizando la historia de fase de cada uno. Debido a la decorrelación geométrica, los pixeles con respuesta independiente de la línea de base espacial son tenidos en cuenta. Esto conduce a que los puntos utilizables están distribuidos con baja densidad espacial, excepto para zonas altamente urbanizadas. La decorrelación temporal hace que las mediciones sean inviables en áreas con vegetación y en general, donde el perfil electromagnético y/o la posición de los dispersores dentro de cada celda de resolución cambian con el tiempo. El objetivo del presente trabajo es detectar en forma preliminar, a partir de la técnica de Dispersores Persistentes, deformaciones (subsidencias y/o levantamientos) en una zona determinada de las ciudades de Santiago del Estero y La Banda, durante el periodo 2017 a 2021 (5 años). Para esto, se empleó un conjunto de 139 imágenes de radar del sensor C-SAR de la misión Sentinel-1. Los resultados obtenidos, muestran diversas zonas en las que se detectan componentes de deformación vertical cuyos valores son de unos pocos milímetros al año.

La presente tesis doctoral se enmarca en el desarrollo de materiales multifuncionales basados en polímeros orientados a aplicaciones estructurales avanzadas, con especial énfasis en la integración de desempeño mecánico y capacidad de monitoreo de daño estructural. En este contexto, el objetivo general fue desarrollar compuestos auto-reforzados empleando mezclas de poliamida 6 (PA6) y poliamida 12 (PA12) con nanotubos de carbono de paredes múltiples (MWCNTs) como matriz, y una tela de tejido plano de PA6.6 como refuerzo, así como analizar la relación entre estructura, procesamiento y propiedades mecánicas y funcionales de dichos compuestos. El trabajo experimental se organizó en dos etapas. En una primera etapa se estudiaron películas basadas en mezclas PA6/PA12 50/50 con distintos contenidos de MWCNTs (0–8 % en peso), empleando un masterbatch de PA12, así como los correspondientes compuestos auto-reforzados obtenidos mediante el apilamiento de dichas películas intercaladas con una tela de tejido plano de PA6.6. Estos materiales se caracterizaron en términos de su morfología, comportamiento térmico, reológico y mecánico, incluyendo ensayos de tracción y fractura. El análisis microestructural evidenció modificaciones significativas en la morfología del sistema con la incorporación de los nanotubos, observándose transiciones desde estructuras tipo isla–mar hacia configuraciones con regiones ricas en nanotubos. En particular, para bajos contenidos de carga se observó una localización preferencial de los MWCNTs en la interfase. Desde el punto de vista mecánico, se registraron cambios en el comportamiento a la fractura, incluyendo la transición desde respuestas frágiles hacia comportamientos completamente dúctiles, así como incrementos de la resistencia y la rigidez en los compuestos auto-reforzados respecto de sus correspondientes matrices. Asimismo, esta primera etapa permitió identificar que la composición 50/50 presenta una respuesta mecánica compleja, asociada a un comportamiento mecánico dual, lo que motivó profundizar el estudio del sistema desde el punto de vista de la conductividad eléctrica y la percolación de la red de nanotubos. En la segunda etapa se abordó el estudio sistemático del umbral de percolación eléctrica en mezclas PA6/PA12 75/25, empleando un masterbatch de PA6. Se desarrollaron nanocompuestos con contenidos de MWCNTs de hasta 11 % en peso y se realizaron caracterizaciones morfológicas, térmicas, reológicas y eléctricas. En este marco, se determinó la presencia de un umbral de percolación eléctrica, a partir del cual la conductividad eléctrica aumenta varios órdenes de magnitud, alcanzando valores dentro del rango semiconductor. Morfológicamente, este rango se asoció a una 3 transición progresiva en la que la morfología tipo isla–mar dejó de ser predominante, observándose un entramado de zonas ricas en nanotubos sin una fase claramente definida. A partir de este contenido de nanotubos, se analizó el efecto de la relación PA6/PA12 (25/75, 50/50 y 75/25) sobre las propiedades mecánicas y funcionales de los nanocompuestos. Los resultados mostraron variaciones significativas en el módulo, la resistencia y la ductilidad en función de la composición de la mezcla. Asimismo, se observó que la incorporación de nanotubos afecta fuertemente el proceso de cristalización de la PA6, mientras que el de la PA12 permanece prácticamente inalterado. Finalmente, se desarrollaron compuestos auto-reforzados basados en las matrices seleccionadas y se evaluaron sus propiedades mecánicas, sus mecanismos de daño y su respuesta eléctrica antes y después de la solicitación mecánica. Los ensayos evidenciaron incrementos en el módulo de Young y en la resistencia a la tracción respecto de las matrices, junto con variaciones apreciables en los parámetros dieléctricos ε′, ε″ y tan δ asociadas al daño inducido. Estas mediciones se complementaron con ensayos de emisión acústica, permitiendo analizar la evolución del daño bajo carga. En conjunto, el trabajo desarrollado aporta un estudio experimental integral sobre nanocompuestos y compuestos auto-reforzados basados en poliamidas, proporcionando información relevante sobre la influencia de la composición, la microestructura y el procesamiento en sus propiedades mecánicas y funcionales, y sentando bases para el desarrollo de materiales estructurales con capacidad de monitoreo de daño.
This doctoral thesis is framed within the development of multifunctional materials based on polymers aimed at advanced structural applications, with particular emphasis on the integration of mechanical performance and structural damage monitoring capability. In this context, the main objective was to develop self-reinforced composites using polyamide 6 (PA6) and polyamide 12 (PA12) blends with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as the matrix, and a plain-woven PA6.6 fabric as reinforcement, as well as to analyze the relationship between structure, processing, and mechanical and functional properties. The experimental work was organized into two stages. In the first stage, films based on PA6/PA12 50/50 blends with different MWCNT contents (0–8 wt. %) were investigated using a PA12 masterbatch, together with the corresponding self-reinforced composites obtained stacking these films alternately with a plain-woven PA6.6 fabric. These materials were characterized in terms of their morphology and thermal, rheological, and mechanical behavior, including tensile and fracture tests. Microstructural analysis revealed significant modifications in the morphology of the system upon nanotube incorporation, showing transitions from sea-island structures to configurations with MWCNT-rich regions. In particular, at low filler contents, a preferential localization of MWCNTs at the interphase between polymer phases was observed. From a mechanical standpoint, changes in fracture behavior were recorded, including a transition from brittle responses to fully ductile behavior, as well as increases in strength and stiffness in the self-reinforced composites compared to their corresponding matrices. Moreover, this first stage showed that the 50/50 composition exhibits a complex mechanical response associated with dual mechanical behavior, which motivated a deeper investigation of the system from the perspective of electrical conductivity and nanotube network percolation. In the second stage, a systematic study of the electrical percolation threshold was carried out for PA6/PA12 75/25 blends, using a PA6 masterbatch. Nanocomposites with MWCNT contents of up to 11 wt. % were developed and morphologically, thermally, rheologically, and electrically characterized. Within this framework, the presence of an electrical percolation threshold was identified, beyond which electrical conductivity increases by several orders of magnitude, reaching values within the semiconducting range. From a morphological standpoint, this range was associated with a progressive transition in which the sea-island morphology was no longer dominant, being progressively replaced by an interconnected network of MWCNT-rich regions without a clearly defined phase. Based on this nanotube content, the effect of the PA6/PA12 ratio (25/75, 50/50, and 75/25) on the mechanical and functional properties of the nanocomposites was analyzed. The results showed 5 significant variations in modulus, strength, and ductility depending on blend composition. Additionally, it was observed that nanotube incorporation markedly affects the crystallization process of PA6, while that of PA12 remains practically unaffected. Finally, self-reinforced composites based on the selected matrices were developed, and their mechanical properties, damage mechanisms, and electrical response was evaluated before and after mechanical loading. The tests revealed increases in Young’s modulus and tensile strength relative to the matrices, together with noticeable variations in the dielectric parameters ε′, ε″, and tan δ associated with the induced damage. These measurements were complemented by acoustic emission tests, enabling the analysis of damage evolution under loading. Overall, the work presented provides a comprehensive experimental study on polyamide-based nanocomposites and self-reinforced composites, offering relevant insights into the influence of composition, microstructure, and processing on their mechanical and functional properties, and establishing a basis for the development of structural materials with damage monitoring capability.

A lo largo de este informe se presentará el desarrollo de un Módulo de Comunicaciones para el estándar de satélites CubeSat. El mismo comprende el diseño, construcción, medición y validación de una radio principal con un modo de funcionamiento analógico, con la intención de que sea utilizado por la comunidad de radioaficionados, y el diseño conceptual de un modo de funcionamiento privado para transmisión de telemetría, telecomandos y datos propios de la misión. El funcionamiento del módulo está orquestado por un microcontrolador STM32, que gestiona la alternancia entre modos de funcionamiento, y se comunica con los distintos submódulos para su configuración. Durante el desarrollo y construcción del módulo se estudiaron distintos efectos propios del diseño de hardware electrónico para radiofrecuencias, se iteró sobre distintas topologías mejorando progresivamente el desempeño del sistema, y se validó su funcionamiento realizando mediciones con equipamiento específico.

En esta tesis se aborda el problema de la reconstrucción de imágenes en tomografía optoacústica mediante el uso de técnicas de aprendizaje profundo, con el objetivo de superar las limitaciones de los métodos analíticos clásicos cuando se aplican a escenarios experimentales realistas. En particular, se propone un enfoque integral que combina modelado físico detallado del sistema optoacústico, generación de datos sintéticos realistas y el diseño y evaluación de arquitecturas de redes neuronales convolucionales. Uno de los principales aportes de este trabajo es la incorporación explícita de efectos reales del sistema optoacústico —tales como la respuesta en frecuencia del detector, las limitaciones de ancho de banda, la atenuación dependiente de la profundidad y el ruido instrumental— en la generación de los datos sintéticos utilizados para el entrenamiento. Se demuestra que este modelado realista permite reducir de manera efectiva la brecha entre el dominio sintético y el experimental, mejorando la capacidad de generalización de los modelos entrenados cuando se aplican a mediciones reales. Desde el punto de vista metodológico, se evalúan distintas variantes de arquitecturas basadas en UNet, incluyendo configuraciones clásicas, modificaciones en los esquemas de upsampling, normalización por capa y enfoques multiescala entrenados por patches. El desempeño de los modelos se analiza mediante un conjunto ampliado de métricas que incluye métricas tradicionales, métricas perceptuales estructurales y métricas específicas por región, permitiendo una caracterización más completa de la calidad de las reconstrucciones. Los resultados obtenidos sobre datos sintéticos y mediciones optoacústicas reales muestran que las redes neuronales entrenadas con un modelado físico realista del sistema producen reconstrucciones más coherentes desde el punto de vista estructural, con mejor preservación de bordes, mayor continuidad vascular y una reducción significativa de artefactos, en comparación con los métodos analíticos tradicionales. Estos resultados validan experimentalmente la importancia de integrar conocimiento físico del sistema en el proceso de entrenamiento de modelos de aprendizaje profundo para aplicaciones en tomografía optoacústica.

Esta tesis doctoral presenta dos contribuciones principales al campo de la implementación eficiente de redes neuronales en hardware digital: una metodología sistemática para la implementación de redes neuronales convolucionales (CNNs) en hardware embebido y un esquema de cuantización flexible que optimiza el equilibrio entre precisión y eficiencia de implementación. La metodología propuesta descompone el proceso de implementación en nueve fases bien definidas, desde el diseño funcional de alto nivel hasta la verificación final. La arquitectura se organiza en tres clases de bloques especializados: procesamiento, flujo de datos y organización de memoria. Esta organización modular permite una implementación escalable y reutilizable que facilita la adaptación a diferentes plataformas. La cuantización flexible constituye la segunda contribución principal, resolviendo las limitaciones de los esquemas uniforme y no uniforme al desacoplar el número de bits del número de niveles. Esto permite optimizar ambos parámetros de manera independiente, manteniendo la compatibilidad con implementaciones de hardware eficientes mediante aritmética de punto fijo. Se desarrollaron dos enfoques para la optimización: cuantización post-entrenamiento (PTQ) y entrenamiento consciente de cuantización (QAT). Los resultados experimentales demuestran que la cuantización flexible permite alcanzar compresiones significativas con pérdidas mínimas de precisión, superando el rendimiento de la cuantización uniforme tradicional. Las contribuciones de esta tesis proporcionan un marco sistemático y reproducible para la implementación eficiente de CNNs en hardware digital, combinando una metodología de diseño estructurada con técnicas avanzadas de cuantización que mantienen la precisión mientras optimizan los recursos de hardware disponibles.

Esta tesis doctoral ha presentado el desarrollo, diseño y validación experimental de un interruptor compuesto de alta tensión basado en una Celda Unitaria de Conmutación (CUC). El trabajo ha abordado los desafíos relacionados con la conmutación rápida y segura de transistores de carburo de silicio (SiC) en arreglos en serie, utilizando circuitos de mando optimizados con transistores de nitruro de galio (GaN) y estrategias de protección contra sobretensiones y recuperación de energía. En la primera parte, se ha realizado un análisis técnico comparativo entre tecnologías de semiconductores de silicio, carburo de silicio y nitruro de galio, destacando las ventajas de los materiales de banda prohibida ancha (WBG) para aplicaciones de alta frecuencia, alta tensión y alta densidad de potencia. Se ha detallado como la adopción de transistores GaN HEMT (High Electron Mobility Transistors) en las etapas de mando ha permitido reducir la potencia de control, disminuir el área ocupada en el circuito impreso y relajar los requerimientos eléctricos de la lógica de control, abriendo nuevas posibilidades para la integración de arreglos modulares de potencia. El núcleo del trabajo ha sido la propuesta de la CUC, un bloque monolítico diseñado para apilarse en arreglos en serie, incrementando la tensión de bloqueo total del sistema sin comprometer la sincronización de las señales de control ni la estabilidad del sistema. Cada CUC ha integrado un circuito de mando local con drivers GaN, un sistema de sincronización analógico para alinear las señales de comando entre etapas, un enclavador de sobretensión activo, y un snubber con recuperación de energía (ER) que ha permitido reutilizar parte de la energía almacenada en las capacitancias par´asitas del sistema. El desarrollo experimental ha incluido la construcción de un interruptor compuesto de tres etapas, basado en MOSFETs de SiC Wolfspeed C2M0280120D de 1200 V, alcanzando una tensión total de bloqueo teórica de 3600 V y una corriente máxima teórica de 11 A. El diseño modular de la placa base ha asegurado una interconexión segura, facilidad de mantenimiento y acceso a puntos de medición estratégicos para la evaluación de tensiones y corrientes. El banco de pruebas desarrollado ha incluido un comprobador de doble pulso (DPT), un sistema de carga compuesto por un inductor de 230 μH y una resistencia de 440 Ω, así como mecanismos de seguridad como sistemas de descarga automática y protección antiparalela con diodos SiC. Las pruebas experimentales han validado el comportamiento del interruptor bajo diferentes condiciones de carga resistiva e inductiva, demostrando una distribución equilibrada de la tensión VDS entre etapas. Se han observado pérdidas de conmutación reducidas gracias al uso de los snubbers ER activos y del autotransformador saturable (ATS), logrando una reducción de aproximadamente 83% en la energía total de conmutación en comparación con configuraciones equivalentes que han utilizado snubbers RC pasivos. Las mediciones también han mostrado que la implementación de enclavadores activos ha evitado eficazmente las sobretensiones en los PSWs durante eventos de corte, protegiendo el sistema sin comprometer el desempeño dinámico. Este trabajo ha aportado una solución novedosa y escalable para aplicaciones de potencia que requieren alta tensión y eficiencia energética, abordando simultáneamente desafíos de sincronización, protección y eficiencia. Los resultados obtenidos no solo han demostrado la viabilidad técnica de la CUC como bloque constructivo modular, sino que también han sentado las bases para el desarrollo de interruptores compuestos de mayor tensión y corriente, que pueden integrarse en sistemas avanzados como convertidores multinivel, inversores modulares y equipos de distribución eléctrica de nueva generación.
This doctoral dissertation has presented the development, design, and experimental validation of a high-voltage composite switch based on a Stackable Switching Unit Cell (CUC), specifically conceived for scalable and high-efficiency power electronics applications. The work has addressed the challenges related to fast and safe switching of silicon carbide (SiC) transistors in series configurations, using optimized gate driver circuits with gallium nitride (GaN) transistors and advanced overvoltage protection and energy recovery strategies. In the first part, a technical comparative analysis has been carried out between silicon (Si), silicon carbide (SiC), and gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technologies, highlighting the advantages of wide-bandgap (WBG) materials for high-frequency, high-voltage, and high-power-density applications. The adoption of GaN HEMT transistors in the driver stages has been shown to reduce control power, decrease PCB footprint, and relax control logic requirements, opening new possibilities for the modular integration of power arrays. The core of the work has been the proposal of the CUC, a monolithic block designed to stack in series, increasing the total blocking voltage of the system without compromising control signal synchronization or system stability. Each CUC has integrated a local driver circuit with GaN devices, an analog synchronization system to align gate command signals across stages, an active overvoltage clamp, and an energy recovery (ER) snubber that has allowed partial reuse of the energy stored in the system’s parasitic capacitances. The experimental development has included the construction of a three-stage composite switch based on Wolfspeed C2M0280120D SiC MOSFETs (1200 V), achieving a total blocking voltage of 3600 V and a maximum current of 11 A. The modular design of the baseboard has ensured safe interconnection, easy maintenance, and access to strategic measurement points for voltage and current evaluation. The developed test bench has included a double-pulse tester (DPT), a load system composed of a 230 μH inductor and a 440Ω high-voltage resistor, as well as safety mechanisms such as automatic capacitor discharge systems and antiparallel SiC diode protections. The experimental tests have validated the switch’s performance under different resistive and inductive load conditions, demonstrating balanced VDS voltage sharing among stages, even under fast-switching scenarios. Minimal switching losses have been observed thanks to the use of active ER snubbers and the saturable autotransformer (ATS), achieving an approximate 83% reduction in total switching energy compared to equivalent setups using passive RC snubbers. Measurements have also shown that active clamps effectively prevented overvoltage events on the PSWs during turn-off, protecting the system without compromising dynamic performance. This work has contributed a novel and scalable solution for power applications requiring high voltage and energy efficiency, simultaneously addressing challenges in synchronization, protection, and efficiency. The obtained results have not only demonstrated the technical feasibility of the CUC as a modular building block but also laid the groundwork for the development of composite switches with higher voltage and current ratings, which can be integrated into advanced systems such as multilevel converters, modular inverters, and next-generation power distribution equipment. In summary, this dissertation has combined innovation in WBG materials, advanced gate driver design, energy recovery techniques, and robust protection strategies, achieving a significant advancement in the field of power electronics. These developments have not only contributed to increasing the power density and efficiency of systems but also opened new opportunities for industrial applications, renewable energy, and electric transportation systems, where the demand for compact, efficient, and scalable solutions continues to grow.
