Facultad de Ingeniería Abstract A summary of the resource. Resumen: En esta tesis se analiza el problema del diseño de sistemas de transmisión por bloques para canales de comunicaciones. La motivación principal es la obtención de esquemas que permitan reducir la redundancia de forma tal de optimizar la eficiencia espectral del sistema. Esto lleva a un problema de optimización muy complejo. En esta tesis se derivan algoritmos que permiten la resolución numérica de dicho problema de optimización. La performance de los diseños propuestos es evaluada y comparada con la correspondiente a otras soluciones presentes en la literatura especializada. Dado que los diseños propuestos necesitan el conocimiento del canal, en una segunda parte de la tesis se deriva un algoritmo adaptativo para la identificación del canal. Este algoritmo tiene la propiedad de que es sumamente robusto por lo que puede trabajar en situaciones severas ruido. Incluso puede tratar con el difícil caso en el que existe ruido impulsivo. Los méritos de este algoritmo son mostrados mediante simulaciones numéricas y mediante la obtención de modelos estocásticos para la dinámica del mismo.
