En esta memoria se presenta el diseño y construcción de un batería electrónica prototipo capaz de enviar mensajes MIDI a un controlador externo. El propósito es diseñar un prototipo de batería electrónica de bajo costo para principiantes. La motivación surge de la experiencia personal del autor como baterista, en la que advirtió las dificultades al adquirir este instrumento para empezar a practicar, ya que la calidad de las baterías acústicas de bajo costo deja mucho que desear, y para obtener un mejor sonido se requiere comprar parches, además de cambiar de platillos ya que las baterıás en general no vienen con platillos de buena calidad. En consecuencia, se propuso diseñar e implementar una batería económica con buena calidad de sonido usando la comunicación MIDI para así ayudar a los principiantes a empezar en el mundo de la percusión. El paso previo para la realización del proyecto fue realizar una planficación orientada a tareas, requerimientos, alcances, y objetivos a corto y largo plazo, analizando pautas como la calidad, uso de recursos, detección y mitigación de riesgos,presupuesto en horas hombre, entre otros, para ası́ analizar la factibilidad de realización del mismo. Una vez terminada la planficación se disenñó e implementó el “hardware” basado en al norma IPC221A,la cual define procedimientos de diseño para pistas, ubicación de componentes, planos de tierra, entre otros, el firmware fue diseñado utilizando la programación en estructura de capas, implementando máquinas de estado sobre el sistema operativo FreeRtos , para ası ́hacerlo lo más portable posible, por si el autor decide cambiar de microcontrolador en alguna aplicación futura. Por último se realizaron los respectivos ensayos tanto de hardware como de firmware. El presente trabajo sirve como documento informativo para los miembros del jurado y como guía a personas externas que deseen realizar un proyecto similar, no muestra ningún diseño muy detallado del prototipo, ya que al ser un proyecto con fines de lucro, el autor se reserva el derecho de la publicación del diseño de hardware y código fuente. La técnica de espectro ensanchado de tipo chirp, o en inglés Chirp Spread Spectrum (CSS) describe un tipo de modulación para comunicaciones inalámbricas que resulta de interés actual debido a su reciente adopción en el campo de la internet de las cosas, mejor conocido como IoT. La principal responsable es LoRa, una tecnología que ha cobrado protagonismo en los últimos años y que pertenece a la categoría de redes WAN de baja potencia (LPWANs o Low Power Wide Area Networks). LoRa utiliza una modulación propietaria de tipo CSS para transmitir a velocidades de transferencia de datos bajas y adaptables según la sensibilidad requerida en el receptor. Promete comunicaciones robustas y seguras a kilómetros de distancia y con muy bajo consumo energético y costos de despliegue al beneficiarse de la robustez inherente de la señal chirp de banda ancha ante ciertos tipos de interferencia. La presente tesis tiene como objeto el diseño e implementación de un transreceptor inalámbrico con modulación CSS basada en la que usa LoRa. La solución presentada se encara como un sistema de radio definida por software o SDR, el cual se conforma por un Front-End analógico y un procesador digital en banda base (DBBP por las siglas en inglés de Digital Base-Band Processor). Para el diseño del DBBP se elige un hardware que permite la implementación de lógica programable como una FPGA (siglas de Field Programmable Gate Array) para el tratamiento de las señales de radio, junto a una unidad de procesamiento que permite la cofiguración y control integral del sistema. Se utiliza por lo tanto un dispositivo de la familia Zynq-7000 de Xilinx que integra un procesador ARM Cortex-A9 embebido con lógica programable en el mismo silicio, lo que permite el diseño de aplicaciones que requieren la velocidad que ofrece el hardware programable así como la versatilidad de un procesador al mismo tiempo. El sistema DBBP diseñado se pone a prueba utilizando un kit de desarrollo con diversas interfaces de comunicación para acelerar la implementación y poner a prueba el sistema desarrollado frente a varias condiciones de interferencia demostrando las bondades de la modulación CSS. Esta tesis se centra únicamente en las etapas de procesamiento digital, dejando para un trabajo futuro la integracióncon un Front-End analógico que permita realizar pruebas en entornos reales. Se contempla por este motivo para este trabajo el diseñoo de un canal de transmisión simulado para su implementación en lógica programable. Este trabajo tiene por lo tanto relevancia profesional en el área de las telecomunicaciones así como en el diseño digital ya que se lleva a cabo en el marco de un proyecto académico liderado por el grupo SDR del Laboratorio de sistemas Embebidos (LSE) de la FIUBA, que tiene como objetivo el desarrollo de una SDR de código abierto. En este trabajo se presenta el diseño e implementación de una biblioteca en VHDL para FPGA capaz de comunicarse por USB 3.0 con una PC, a una velocidad de subida de datos de al menos 1280 Mbps. Tiene como objetivo aumentar las prestaciones de un producto de desarrollo nacional que actualmente está limitado por su comunicación USB 2.0. Este proyecto es autocontenido y por ende todo el desarrollo realizado puede ser mostrado. Sin embargo por razones de confidencialidad se omiten del mismo el nombre de la empresa, las personas que trabajan en la misma y ciertos detalles respecto al sistema que se busca mejorar. La realización de este trabajo está basada en gitlab aplicándolo no solo como control de versión, sino también como sistema de documentación del proyecto, gestión de las tareas y seguimiento de avance. Terremotos recientes en países con alto nivel de preparación sísmica han demostrado que los requisitos mínimos impuestos en la mayoría de los reglamentos de construcción vigentes alrededor del mundo pueden resultar insuficientes para satisfacer las necesidades socioeconómicas de las regiones afectadas. A raíz de la creciente conciencia de los riesgos que entrañan los grandes terremotos, en los últimos años la atención mundial se ha centrado cada vez más en la necesidad de aumentar el grado de resiliencia de la infraestructura urbana. Desde el punto de vista de la ingeniería estructural, la condición de resiliencia implica que es tan importante asegurar la baja probabilidad de colapso de una estructura como mantener su funcionalidad o, al menos, garantizar su rápida rehabilitación después del evento. Dicho en otros términos, la condición de resiliencia exige cumplir con objetivos de performance (o desempeño) superiores a los reglamentarios. Esta tesis tiene el propósito de promover la introducción de tales objetivos en el diseño de estructuras civiles, tanto en zonas de alta sismicidad como en el caso particular de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, considerada muchas veces como una zona no sísmica. Cuando la amenaza sísmica en el sitio de emplazamiento es elevada, el mayor obstáculo para establecer este tipo de objetivos se encuentra en la dificultad de conducir una evaluación probabilística de la performance que permita verificar su cumplimiento. Rigurosamente, esto exige conducir cientos de análisis dinámicos no lineales con un modelo numérico sofisticado, lo cual lleva asociado un costo computacional que está muy por encima de las posibilidades actuales de la práctica de la ingeniería. Por esta razón, muchos estudios recientes han explorado la posibilidad de verificar esos objetivos de forma aproximada a partir un número limitado de análisis. Este trabajo presenta primero una revisión crítica de las distintas alternativas propuestas en la literatura para tal, discutiendo su marco teórico y demostrando las limitaciones de base que estas presentan para evaluar objetivos de performance planteados en términos probabilísticos. En base a esas observaciones, se introduce luego un procedimiento original de evaluación probabilística de la performance, el cual se apoya en la idea de que la selección de las historias de aceleración que deben ser utilizadas para verificar un determinado objetivo dependen de las características de la estructura y, por lo tanto, de su modelo numérico. El resultado es una metodología basada en modelos de distinto grado de complejidad que permite conducir con un costo computacional manejable para la práctica de la ingeniería sísmica una adecuada evaluación cuantitativa y cualitativa de esos objetivos. Se refiere a la misma como evaluación orientada a la demanda" en el sentido de que está explícitamente desarrollada para estimar el nivel de demanda asociado a la tasa de falla admisible del objetivo a verificar. Los beneficios del método se ilustran en la evaluación de la performance de un edición representativo de la práctica profesional actual en zonas de alta sismicidad. En Buenos Aires, a diferencia de lo comentado anteriormente, la dificultad de implementar diseños basados en la performance se explica, fundamentalmente, por la total ausencia de información referida a la amenaza sísmica en la región. La falta de atención que ha recibido históricamente la amenaza sísmica en Buenos Aires comenzó a subsanarse en 2015, cuando la Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad de Buenos Aires instaló la única estación sismológica activa en la Ciudad. Este trabajo resume la información obtenida a partir de la primera serie de movimientos sísmicos registrados por la estación hasta la fecha. El análisis de esos registros demuestra la existencia de importantes efectos de sitio, los cuales hacen que Buenos Aires sea particularmente sensible a sismos lejanos de gran de magnitud como los que pueden producirse en el oeste de la Argentina y el centro de Chile. A partir de esas observaciones, se conduce un primer análisis probabilístico de la amenaza sísmica en Buenos Aires que incorpora la contribución de eventos locales y lejanos. Para ello, se desarrollan ecuaciones de predicción del movimiento de suelo específicas para la Ciudad, las cuales consideran las características particulares que presenta el depósito de suelo. Teniendo en cuenta que los resultados obtenidos sugieren que las prescripciones establecidas por el Reglamento Argentino para Construcciones Sismorresistentes podrían ser insuficientes, el trabajo culmina estableciendo recomendaciones que permitan llevar adelante diseños basados en la performance en Buenos Aires. Recent earthquakes in countries with high level of seismic preparation have shown that the minimum requirements imposed in most building codes in force throughout the world may be insficient for satisfying the socio-economic needs of the afected regions. As a result of the increased awareness of the risks associated to large seismic events, researchers and practitioners have paid greater attention in recent years to the need of improving earthquake resilience of buildings and other infrastructure. From a structural engineering perspective, this implies that the design process should not focus only on minimizing collapse risks, but also on post-earthquake functionality or, at least, the ability of being repaired as quickly as possible after strong events. In other words, seismic resilience implies designing for higher performance than that provided by minimum code standards. The purpose of this thesis is to promote the introduction of such performance objectives in the design process of civil infrastructure, both in areas of high seismicity as in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, often considered a non-seismic zone. When the seismic hazard at the site of interest is high, the establishment of additional goals is hindered by the fact that verifying compliance requires performing a probabilistic performance assessment. Rigorously, this implies conducting hundreds of response history analyses with a sophisticated numerical model, a task that involves a computational efort that is not manageable in practical applications. For this reason, several studies have focused on developing approximate performance assessment procedures using only a limited number of analyses. This study presents a critical review of such approaches, discussing the theoretical framework and their limitations for evaluating performance objectives posed in probabilistic terms. Based on these observations, the thesis then introduces a novel performance assessment procedure, which stands on the idea that the earthquake records that should be used for evaluating a certain performance objective depend on the structure and, therefore, on its numerical model. The result is a procedure that relies on the use of models of diferent degree of complexity. It is referred to as a \demand-oriented assessment" in the sense that it aimed at estimating the level of demand associated to the allowable failure rate of the performance check of interest. The benficts of the proposed procedure are illustrated in the performance assessment of an archetype building representative of current engineering practice in areas of high seismicity. In Buenos Aires, unlike the aforementioned, the greatest challenge that must be overcome for implementing performance-based design concepts is the total absence of information related to the seismic hazard at the site. Earthquake hazards in Buenos Aires have been traditionally ignored until 2015, when the School of Engineering of the University of Buenos Aires installed the only working seismometer in the city. This study summarizes the information obtained from the first set of ground motions recorded in Buenos Aires to date. The analysis of these records shows the existence of signficant site effects, which make Buenos Aires particularly sensitive to distant earthquakes of great magnitude, such as those that occur in western Argentina and central Chile. Based on these observations, the thesis conducts a preliminary probabilistic seismic hazard analysis that considers both local and long-distance events. In order to achieve this, a set of site-specific ground motion prediction equations are developed considering the features of the soil deposit. Noting that these preliminary results suggest that the provisions of the Argentine building code could be insuficient, the study establishes recommendations for implementing performance-based approaches in Buenos Aires.
