Las aislaciones eléctricas poliméricas se utilizan profusamente en sistemas de energía de alta y media tensión por las siguientes razones: minimizan problemas de vandalismo, tienen buen comportamiento en casos de elevada polución ambiental, tienen menor peso y fácil maniobrabilidad, presentan menor impacto ambiental visual, y no proyectan partes en una explosión. Aplican en líneas aéreas y en equipos de subestaciones. A diferencia de las clásicas aislaciones de porcelana y vidrio templado, en este caso es necesario evaluar su estado de envejecimiento. Los métodos de ensayo previstos en la normativa internacional vigente no incluyen ensayos de caracterización que permitan evaluar el envejecimiento de los materiales que componen a los aisladores poliméricos, especialmente su recubrimiento. Si bien los organismos de estudio dedicados a temas relacionados con sistemas eléctricos de potencia de alta tensión han desarrollado metodologías de caracterización de este tipo de materiales, ellas no son aplicables a equipamiento en servicio, ya sea porque requiere extraerles muestras (siendo entonces, al menos parcialmente, métodos destructivos), o son efectuadas sobre muestras de grandes dimensiones que no se podrían extraer de dichos equipos. No se han desarrollado aún metodologías no destructivas aplicables a la variedad dimensional, y de características, que presentan los equipamientos típicos de las instalaciones de alta y media tensión. En este trabajo se presenta una metodología esencialmente no destructiva, apta para evaluar equipos en su lugar de instalación, basada principalmente en “Espectroscopía de Dieléctricos”, y enmarcada en un plan de ensayos de caracterización contrastado satisfactoriamente con vasta experiencia en la gestión técnica de este tipo de materiales. Fundamentado en los resultados de gran cantidad de ensayos, efectuados con variado instrumental, y en diferentes condiciones, se demuestra la factibilidad de la metodología propuesta. Se presenta también un diseño novedoso de dispositivo porta muestras,desarrollado para este fin específico. Y, no menos importante, para respaldar el método desde un punto de vista teórico, se presenta un análisis comprehensivo de la teoría de la “Espectroscopía de Dieléctricos”, y se relaciona la teoría usual basada en formulaciones fenomenológicas (Cole-Cole, Cole-Davidson y Havriliak-Negami) con los últimos desarrollos que las deducen desde el Cálculo Fraccional. Polymeric electrical insulations are widely used in high and medium voltage power systems for the following reasons: they minimize vandalism problems, have good behavior in cases of high environmental pollution, have less weight and easy maneuverability, have less visual environmental impact, and they do not project parts in an explosion. They apply to overhead lines and substation equipment. Unlike the classic porcelain and tempered glass insulation, in this case it is necessary to evaluate its aging state. The test methods provided for in the current international standards do not include characterization tests that allow evaluating the aging of the materials that make up the polymeric insulators, especially their housing. Although the study groups dedicated to issues related to high voltage power electrical systems have developed characterization methodologies for this type of materials, they are not applicable to equipment in service, either because it requires extracting samples (being then, at least partially, destructive methods), or are carried out on large samples that could not be extracted from such equipment. Non-destructive methodologies applicable to the dimensional variety, and characteristics, of the typical equipment of high and medium voltage installations have not yet been developed. In this work, an essentially non-destructive methodology is presented, suitable for evaluating equipment in its place of installation, based mainly on "Dielectric Spectroscopy", and framed in a characterization test plan satisfactorily contrasted with vast experience in technical management of this type of materials. Based on the results of many tests, carried out with various instruments, and under different conditions, the feasibility of the proposed methodology is demonstrated. A novel sample holder device design, developed for this specific purpose, is also presented. And, not least, to support the method from a theoretical point of view, a comprehensive analysis of the theory of "Dielectric Spectroscopy" is presented, and the usual theory based on phenomenological formulations (Cole-Cole, Cole- Davidson and Havriliak-Negami) is related with the latest developments that deduce them from the Fractional Calculus. La motivación principal es la obtención de esquemas que permitan reducir la redundancia de forma tal de optimizar la eficiencia espectral del sistema. Esto lleva a un problema de optimización muy complejo. En esta tesis se derivan algoritmos que permiten la resolución numérica de dicho problema de optimización. La performance de los diseños propuestos es evaluada y comparada con la correspondiente a otras soluciones presentes en la literatura especializada. Dado que los diseños propuestos necesitan el conocimiento del canal, en una segunda parte de la tesis se deriva un algoritmo adaptativo para la identificación del canal. Este algoritmo tiene la propiedad de que es sumamente robusto por lo que puede trabajar en situaciones severas ruido. Incluso puede tratar con el difícil caso en el que existe ruido impulsivo. Los méritos de este algoritmo son mostrados mediante simulaciones numéricas y mediante la obtención de modelos estocásticos para la dinámica del mismo.
